The Sorcerers – I Too Am A Stranger

[reviewed by: Peter Marks]

These musicians absolutely describe the name of this act perfectly.

With their third album it feels as though they’ve harnessed (coaxed?)even more instruments; listen as the bass guitar flows within flutes, clarinet’s, drums and of course the saxophone.

This is just the visible iceberg; investigate thoroughly. No words are added to their creative tracks but the tightness has no end.

With each second one is tuned in, hearing layer upon layer moving all around a precisely ordered precession. Seeing them live must be quite an event- experimenting which goes on no doubt, expands until where they have begun morphs, vanishing only to re-appear into the ether.

If this interests anyone there’s even more work by these players: side-projects. I’ve only begun sifting: which lays further out there… I have no doubt they’ll be strangely addictive. Since 2018 ‘The Sorcerers’ have been sliding through so many journeys… their releases do not wander about nor do they possess any slow revelations; staying in time and not losing your own way is the key!
