Headstone Brigade – Samhain Reign [video premiere]

We are pleased to host the video premiere of “Samhain Reign”, the song from the upcoming album “Victory & Defeat” by Headstone Brigade.

Based in Seattle, Washington Headstone Brigade is a neofolk band led by Egan Budd, whom you may know from Xiphoid Dementia project (I reviewed the project’s “Secular Hymns” album in 2013). However, due to the multitude of sounds and instruments used, Egan is also accompanied by other musicians, either during the recording process or during live performances.

“Victory & Defeat” will be the second full length album by the band. After the “Headstone Brigade” debut released in 2017 on Brave Mysteries and the collaborative release with Crooked Mouth (“Crooked Headstone”, out thanks to I Voidhanger Records in 2021) it will be the effect of a collaboration with US-based label Weregnome Records. The album shows the undeniable progress of the band and can be considered as one of this year’s highlights on neo/dark folk scene.

The album will be out on vinyl October 31, 2023 and it will be followed by the cassette release containing two EPs: “Dark Shadows in Bright Light” and “Divine Vestiges”.

If you live in US, especially the West Coast, it is quite a big chance that Headstone Brigade will perform live somewhere in your neighborhood. Personally I hope to see them in Europe one day as well.
