This old chap is a person behind Naevus a band which is often described as “neofolk”, but let’s be honest – it has much more to offer than just happy bonfire acoustic songs. Waiting for the next Naevus and Retarder albums, let’s check what Lloyd James has to say about 2015.
Tell us your way for a succesful or happy life. Do you think that man is able to live free from religion? What do you think is the meaning of our existence?
I have absolutely no idea how to have a successful and happy life. If anyone knows, I wish they would tell me. Man will be able to live free from religion, eventually; we’ll grow out of the need for such childishness one day. There is no meaning to our existence.
How would you sum up your musical activity in 2015?
Sporadic. Circumstances have limited my recording opportunities but it was good to get the writing of the next Naevus album finished and also to do the first Retarder gigs as a 4-piece band.
How are you going to spend the upcoming holiday season?
Eating, drinking, travelling, recording and loving.
Is there any film / book / theatrical play / exhibition / computer game which made a particular impression on you in 2015?
A book – Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte, which I finally got around to reading.
Did this year change you in any way, changed your perception of the world, perhaps opened your eyes on something?
This year changed me a lot. It was the first year in a new phase of my life.
Any moment of 2015 you’ll remember on your death bed?
Yes! Meeting the love of my life.
Your predictions for the world (in the political and cultural context) for 2016?
It’ll continue getting worse. Savagery and greed will continue to rise.
Your personal plans, hopes, expectations for 2016?
Get a new Naevus album out, and stay alive.
