Tell us your way for a succesful or happy life. Do you think that man is able to live free from religion? What do you think is the meaning of our existence?

Oh, I don’t know much about being happy. Not sure I believe in happiness. Moments of pure joy, absolutely. Shards of pain, definitely… but happiness is surely a figment of someone else’s imagination. I would seriously hope that we can live without religion because we sure as fuck can’t live with it!!! I don’t believe there is a general meaning for our existence. We all have the chance to make our own meanings. Hopefully we will do that in tandem with everything else that lives around us. Far and near.

How would you sum up your musical activity in 2015?

I started the year in Japan, putting the finishing touches to my new album “The Labyrinth of the Straight Line” – came back to Europe in March looking forward to it’s release only to be told that it wouldn’t be issued until Spring 2016 (due to current difficulties at vinyl pressing plants.) that was a blow on many levels but I quickly decided to distract myself by playing more live shows instead. So this year has been a lot of fun playing shows around Europe and meeting lots of brilliant people. It has been a great year for that alone.

How are you going to spend the upcoming holiday season?

I will spend a quiet time in Scotland with family.

Is there any film / book / theatrical play / exhibition / computer game which made a particular impression on you in 2015?

Best film of the year without doubt is “The Duke of Burgandy” by Peter Strickland

Best event was the Soliparty for Datacide Magazine with Prole Sector at Kopi in Berlin in August.

Cultural highlight was Samuel Beckett’s “Waiting for Godot” at the Edinburgh Lyceum with Brian Cox and Bill Paterson – absolutely brilliant.

Best book read this year “Damned to Fame – The Life of Samuel Beckett” by James Knowlson.

Did this year change you in any way, changed your perception of the world, perhaps opened your eyes on something?

A spectre haunts my peripheral vision – a creeping misanthropy.

Your predictions for the world (in the political and cultural context) for 2016?

I’m not particularly pleased with this world we have created, it gets more uncomfortable with each day… We have gone down a very wrong path into an extremely nasty corner. We seem stuck – unable & unwilling to attempt any kind of volte face. More of this and we are fucked. Overthrowing the new feudal societies that are being aggressively built around us would be a great start to 2016 but I don’t hold out much hope…

Your personal plans, hopes, expectations for 2016?

After the delays, I should have a few releases in 2016. ”The Labyrinth of the Straight Line” will hopefully be out on Editions Mego around late spring/early summer. Before that in February Diagonal Records will issue my collaboration with Ancient Methods. Our project name is In The Mouth Of The Wolf and there will be 12” called “Need of Angels”. Also, my collaboration with Massimo Pupillo (Zu) should see an album released on the Trost label. Our first ever musical adventure was recorded in August 2015 at Cafe Oto in London and will hopefully come out soon. Not quite sure of our project name yet – possibly Becoming-Animal. We are hoping to play live with this project as well, maybe even expand the line-up beyond the two of us.
