We have here a new song from this renewed project in the field of brutal industrial. ‘Engage… Forwards’ marks for the band their first recording taking place in a professional studio. The result is obviously changed in terms of sound, and perhaps intends to mark out this new beginning from the past’s very numerous recordings. In terms of music, the sound gains in aggressiveness and also acquires a synthetic quality more close to machinery and, paradoxically, the spirit of old industrial music. Situated somewhere between SPK and Dissecting Table, this offering from the Portuguese industrialists, mixes in the substrata of the percussion a savagery of variably sourced scrap metal or junk noise sounds.
The second song is a remastered version of ‘Voodoo Machine’ presented on their first album ‘Soul Cleansing’, 2009. After this album they have released, besides splits and collaborative efforts, three other full-lengths, ‘Subliminal Actions’, ‘The Human Fractal’ and ‘Communiphones’ on the New Approach label, which has also made possible the release of this EP. ‘Voodoo Machine’ takes much from the sound of Godflesh, adding sub-layers of splashed electronics and industrialized ambiances of an almost Einstürzende Neubauten’esque choreography.
In plus, on ‘Engage… Forwards’ we are given a special artwork made by the vocalist, electronicist André Coelho, while the mastering is done by James Plotkin (Khanate).
