How would you summarize this past year on an artistic and personal level?

The past year was quite kind to me. On an artistic level I managed to find an excellent label (Tympanik Audio) and released my debut LP there. The album was received well and I’m happy about it. On a personal level we finally officialized our design studio (www.codon.im) and entered the next level in our work.

Which album have you listened to most often this year (not necessarily released in 2014)?

I’m not sure how much I listened to a certain album but there were some albums that stood out for me:
Ocoeur -> A Parallel Life
Arash Akbari -> Cracked Echoes
Siavash Amini -> What Wind Whispered To The Trees
Lawrence English -> Wilderness Of Mirrors
Andy Stott -> Faith In Strangers
Deru -> 1979
Loscil -> Sea Island
Raime -> Quarter Turns Over A Living Line
Dalhous -> An Ambassador For Laing

What was the best gig you’ve attended?

I was lucky enough to attend a couple of private performances here in Tehran. I really enjoyed The Name Band (A vocals/laptop duo from Rasht, Iran) playing live and also Tegh+Umchunga playing at Cafe Talkh.

What was the best non-music related cultural experience you’ve had?

In 2014 year I enjoyed a couple of brilliant TV Shows/ films. Black Mirror was one which is an influential drama I watched the past year. Sopranos was another show I enjoyed a lot.

Was there an event within this past year that has significantly influenced your philosophy and outlook on life, or your perception of the world around you? For instance some specific place you visited, people you met and so on?

I can’t think of anything specific really but all in all one of the things that influences me a lot and shapes my character is my daily interaction with others, be it old friends or new people. I had the pleasure of meeting a couple of lovely people the past year plus I was able to still hang around with my old wonderful pals.

What was your greatest disappointment in 2014?

Again nothing specific but there are a lot of fucked-up things that happened and are happening around us, so I’d say there were quite a lot of disappointing occurrences.

Your plans, hopes and expectations for 2015?

I have a couple of intentions for this year although I’m not sure how many of them I can bring into reality. Some have already been started and some are ideas waiting to be realized.

1- Finishing up Photomat’s(The band I’m in) second album and releasing it through a decent label.
2- Two releases on Tympanik Audio. One LP and one EP.
3- Officially starting our own independent label here in Tehran.
4- Setting up our own independent (A/V Performance/ New Media Art) festival here in Tehran.
5- Continuing the flow we’ve got going with our design studio.
