2013 Through My Eyes: Jun-His [Oranssi Pazuzu]

oranssi

“Infinite space hidden deep inside the very core of human mind. Oranssi Pazuzu is a Finnish musical entity which on black metal foundation builds a time/space/aural machine in order to take the listener on an insane, drug-driven journey right to the edge of the cosmos”

How would you summarize this past year on artistic and personal level?

Jun-His: An interesting and important year for me that involved the recording of Valonielu at spring and all sorts of dealings related to the release of the album after that. Im very happy how the whole thing turned out and glad that it`s now out in the open and I can once again start concentrating on new musical ideas and journeys. With OP and other bands as well. Valonielu was a very time consuming project that lasted for over a year, so the feel of freedom is in the air. In a good way.

What album you listened to most often this year (not necessarily released in 2013)?

I`d probably have to say Swans: The Seer

What was the best cultural experience not related to music?

I`ve really been enjoying visual works of my friend Heikki Hautala. You can check out some of his work at heikkihautala.wordpress.com. He is another one of those artists that I would love to make art collaborations at some point.

And best trip? Most beautiful or magic place you visited this year?

Haven`t been traveling much this year. But there was an interesting and magical place just 30km from where I live where I visited a few times during the summer. A cave formation in the middle of a thick forest that was used as a home cave for people about 1300 years ago. There were some carvings and small drawings there as well. I didn’t know it even existed before. Those kind of caves are called “the devils churches”. A very quiet and a calm place that made me feel connected to the nature around and made me think of people who lived there so long ago. I cannot even begin to imagine how hard life must have been for them. Especially in the winter time, for fuck sake!

What was your greatest disappointment of 2013?

Still don`t know how to draw or paint anything.

Did you learn anyting particular this year?

Yeah, its a familiar lesson. To continue trying to keep an open mind and always remembering to work on that and to question everything. Especially your own linear thought patterns.

Plans, hopes, expectations for 2014?

New music and art, doing and seeing lots of shows, meeting new people, traveling, imagining, daring to try new things, getting over old shit and learning more as a human begin.
