“He brings out the feeling in electronic material as few others can and given that he did this entire opus utilizing only the capabilities of software should be testament to the finely honed, meticulous attention to detail he is capable of.” [Peter Marks]
How would you summarize this past year on artistic and personal level?
Very positive. Artistically I am more inspired and motivated then ever. The older I get the more ambitious and determined I seem to become. My personal life I would like to keep to myself but in general everything has sort of settled in to a comfortable status quo. Fingers crossed.
What album you listened to most often this year (not necessarily released in 2013)?
For the first time in years I have begun to listen to other music then BACH, baroque music in general and later as well as contemporary classical music. I have listened to quite some current ambient and neo classical stuff. Some of it boring like you don’t want to know, other quite exhilarating.
What was the best cultural experience not related to music?
The annual museum night here in Amsterdam is a fantastic experience. The canals at night, all museums open, lights everywhere and to be able to walk along real Rembrandt and Van Gogh paintings at night is unforgettable.
And best trip? Most beautiful or magic place you visited this year?
I have been to Seville with my girlfriend who lived and studied flamenco there for years. She showed me all the great places and sights of the city. That place is so alive, mainly because of the pleasant climate of course, but it was great just to stumble into a terrace or outside tapas bar every 100 feat or so. It certainly made me want to embark on more city trips in the future.
What was your greatest disappointment of 2013?
The growing corporate state, greed and corruption, the dehumanization of society and the gradual enslavement of the people.
Did you learn anything particular this year?
Logic Pro X!
Plans, hopes, expectations for 2014 …
A new album, exploring more cutting edge Logic Pro techniques (I am notoriously lazy) and playing more live shows …
