PL: Niby projekt nazywa się Sztuka Empatii, ale płyta nosi tytuł Postludzka Dekadencja. Nietrudno się domyślić, że samej muzyce bliżej raczej do tytułu, niż nazwy tej jednoosobowej, choć wspomaganej przez kilku gości inicjatywie.
Art Of Empathy pochodzi z Belgii a wydana przez Bunkier plyta jest dla projektu debiutem na fizycznym nośniku. Kilka lat temu Belg wydał “Evening Sessions” na mp3 dla sczezłego już netlabela zwanego Ekleipsi. Co ciekawe, “Posthuman Decadence” także zostało już wydane wcześniej w formie cyfrowej… w trzech różnych netlabelach. Szczerze mówiąc nie rozumiem co poeta miał na myśli, dziwny krok, no ale dobra, niech mu będzie.
Sama muzyka jest niezła, aczkolwiek ani wybitna, ani oryginalna na tyle, żeby wciskać ją gdzie się da i pilnować aby dotarła do każdego zainteresowanego. Art Of Empathy para się melodyjnym neofolkiem, z dość mocnym zacięciem martialowym. Przez praktycznie większość czasu trwania płyty delikatne partie gitary akustycznej oraz proste, choć potrafiące czasem poruszyć czułą strunę w sercu sekwencje syntezatorowe, są napędzane mniej lub bardziej marszowym rytmem. A na dokładkę mamy tu zupełnie dobre wokale, z pozoru chłodne i beznamiętne, ale za tą marmurową fasadą kryjące jednak sporą dozę emocji.
Całościowo rzecz jest zatem niekoniecznie rewelacyjna, ale dosyć zgrabna, udanie łącząca tytułową dekadencję z jakimś ostatnim, płonnym przebłyskiem nadziei. Nie jest to oczywiście nic, czego byśmy już dziesiątki razy nie słyszeli, ale jeśli ktoś lubi, czemu nie miałby posłuchać takiej godzinnej dawki dark folku po raz kolejny. Zwłaszcza, że jest to rzecz dopracowana zarówno od strony technicznej, kompozycyjnej, jak i emocjonalnej.

ENG: Although the project is called Art Of Empathy, the CD is titled Posthuman Decadence. It is not difficult to guess that the music itself is closer to the title rather than the name of this one-man initiative – though recorded with a help of few guests.
Art Of Empathy comes from Belgium and “Posthuman Decadence”, published by Bunkier, is its debut on a physical media. Earlier, the Belgian artist had recorded “Evening Sessions” for the already deceased netlabel called Ekleipsi. Interestingly, Posthuman Decadence had also been released earlier in a digital format… in three different netlabels. I honestly don’t understand what the poet had in mind, a strange move indeed. But ok, let’s get to business.
The music itself is pretty good, however not as extraordinary or original to push it wherever you can and hope that it’ll reach every fan of the genre. The game of Art Of Empathy is melodic dark/neofolk with quite a strong martial touch. For almost the majority of the disc, delicate acoustic guitar work and synth sequences that are simple, yet sometimes able to touch a chord in my heart, are driven by a more or less marching rhythm. On top of that, we have quite good vocals, seemingly cold and dispassionate, but still covering a good deal of emotion behind their marble façade.
So the whole thing is pretty neat, successfully combining the titled decadence with a last vain glimmer of hope. This is of course nothing that we haven’t heard dozens of times before, but if you enjoy it, why not listen to this brand of dark folk once again. Especially since it’s a decent release from a technical, as well as compositional and emotional aspect.
