PL: To z kilku względów dość nietypowa dla Alio Die kolaboracja. Nie podeszła mi od razu, długo do niej dojrzewałem. Kiedy jednak do tego już doszło, okazało się, że “Circo Divino” kryje w sobie całe mnóstwo przepięknych emocji, uczuć i magii.
Stefano Musso nagrał tę płytę we współpracy z greckim Parallel Worlds. Projekt ów, za którym stoją Bakis i John Sirros, tworzy melancholijną elektronikę czerpiącą przede wszystkim z oldschoolowych brzmień rodem z lat siedemdziesiątych, choć Grecy nie uciekają od nowocześniejszych wpływów muzycznych. Natomiast kluczowe znaczenie ma tu fakt, iż Parallel Worlds korzysta wyłącznie z analogowych syntezatorów, co nadaje muzyce tego specyficznego posmaku vintage, którego żaden komputer nie jest w stanie podrobić.
Surrealistyczna okładka początkowo dobrze oddawała stan mojego umysłu podczas słuchania płyty. Przenikające się senne melodie, mknące gdzieś po obrzeżach muzyki analogowe rytmy, kilka równolegle płynących motywów i brak charakterystycznego dla Alio Die bezruchu, tu wszystko jest rozedrgane, niespokojne, niczym tropikalny, pełen życia las, w którym wszelkie stworzenia od mikrookrganizmów po duże drapieżniki w nieustannym ruchu starają się przeżyć, kreując jednocześnie swój ekosystem. Tyle, że jest to las, w którym na równi z biologią zachodzą interakcje cyfrowe, przepływ danych między gałęziami drzew, organiczność równa syntetyce, infosfera i biosfera scalone w jedno.
Na tej symbiozie opiera się całe “Circo Divino”. Alio Die odpowiada za kontakt z Naturą, podczas gdy Parallel Worlds za pomocą swych syntezatorów, analogowych modułów itp. tka sztuczną pajęczynę ze światłowodowych nici. Oba projekty w kilku utworach wspomaga nasza rodaczka, India Czajkowska, którą być może niektórzy pamiętają z wkładu w “The Mother And The Enemy” Lux Occulty. Tutaj jej wokalizy są wtopione w muzykę, nigdy nie stanowią pierwszego planu, raczej dopełnienie warstwy instrumentalnej… Uszlachetnia je jednak pięknie, dodając muzyce zmysłowej, czasem wręcz erotycznej aury. Posłuchajcie “Nuvole Di Palissandro” i jej eterycznych, ale jednocześnie ekscytujących wokali. W środkowej partii samym swym oddechem wywołuje mrowienie na całym moim ciele…
Od momentu wydania “Circo Divino” Stefano Musso zdążył napłodzić około tuzina kolejnych wydawnictw. Wiele z nich świetnych, o części z nich pewnie jeszcze napiszemy na Santa Sangre. Ale do “Circo Divino” wracam wyjątkowo często. Nie jest to może najłatwiejsza płyta Alio Die (a może mi się tylko tak wydaje?), ale warto poświęcić jej kilkanaście przesłuchań i dać się wchłonąć w ten organiczno – syntetyczny wir. Świetna płyta.

ENG: For several reasons this is a quite unusual collaboration. At first I didn’t like the idea – perhaps I need to grow up. But when it finally happened, it turned out that “Circo Divino” hides a whole lot of beautiful emotions, feelings and magic.
Stefano Musso recorded this album in cooperation with Parallel Worlds from Greece. Bakis and John Sirros create melancholic electronics drawn primarily from old school sounds straight out of the seventies, though both of these Greeks don’t escape more modern musical influences. However one fact is crucial: Parallel Worlds use only analogue synthesizers, which give the music that specific vintage feeling which simply no computer can forge.
The surreal album cover initially illustrated quite perfectly my own state of mind while listening to the music. Sleepy melodies penetrating each other, analogue rhythms rushing somewhere on the outskirts of music, several themes flowing in parallel, and the lack of this stillness, characteristic for Alio Die. Everything is vibrating, restless, like a tropical forest full of life where all creatures from micro-organisms to large predators are trying to survive in constant traffic, at the same time creating their ecosystem. It’s just that this is a forest in which along with biology, digital interactions occur, a permanent dataflow between tree branches, organic equals synthetic, infosphere and biosphere merged into one.
“Circo Divino” is based on this symbiosis. Alio Die is responsible for contact with Nature, while Parallel Worlds with their synthesizers analogue modules etc. weave an artificial cobweb from optical fiber strands. In three of the tracks both projects are accompanied by Polish singer India Czajkowska, which some of you may perhaps remember from her contribution in Lux Occulta’s “The Mother And The Enemy”. Here her vocals are embedded in the music, never on the foreground, but rather a complement of instrumental layers. But she dignifies the music beautifully, adding to it a sensual, sometimes even erotic aura. Listen to “Nuvole Di Palissandro”, and the ethereal, yet exciting vocals. In the middle part of the track her breath causes a tingling all over my body…
Since the time when “Circo Divino” had seen the light of day, Stefano produced about a dozen further releases. Some of them are great, some of them will find their place at Santa Sangre. But I come back to “Circo Divino” unusually often. It’s not the easiest Alio Die album (or perhaps this is just my impression), but it’s worth your time to give it a few listens and be absorbed in its organic – synthetic vortex.
